Black with checks looks graphic. A little British, even. On light laminate or white floorboards this runner draws a clear line beside the bed, and the long pile keeps it soft and cosy instead of strict. It looks great with grey linen. With a tartan throw on the bed and a dark green wall, the whole bedroom suddenly feels like a cosy country house in the Scottish Highlands.
