Black Rugs
Black on the floor is bolder than it sounds. A black rug gives light furniture a clear frame and makes a large room look more ordered. Ours come in pure black and in anthracite, mostly in wool and synthetic fibre. Jute and cotton are part of the range as well, and so is viscose.

What Goes with Black?
Black and white looks modern and clean. One wool design carries a geometric black and white check and lies flat.
Things get calmer when you combine black with grey, say a dark rug under a light grey sofa. Beige and black together feel warm yet clear, especially with wooden furniture, and a cream sofa against black makes a crisp contrast. More shades between light and dark sit with our grey rugs. Want colour as well? Try a green rug or a colourful rug.
Does Black Need a Lot of Light?
Yes. Lots of it. On light parquet and against a white wall it really comes into its own, while in a dark room it tends to swallow light. Black looks strongest in a living room with a pale sofa, and our living room rugs offer more sizes for the seating area.
Light fluff and pale dust do show on black, so vacuum a little more often. Dark marks and street dirt, on the other hand, almost vanish into the pile. A dark runner by the front door therefore often looks tidy for longer than a light one.
Round and Large Black Rugs
Round black rugs come in wool or viscose, and as high pile, up to Ø 300 cm. Beneath a white table with pale chairs, a black circle sets the tone of a plain dining corner straight away. Rectangles go up to 300 x 400 cm, so a large black rug for an entire seating group is possible. Runners reach 500 cm.
Frequently asked questions
Will I see every crumb on black?
Light crumbs and fluff, yes. Dark dirt hardly shows. Regular vacuuming is usually enough.
Which black rug is really fluffy?
The deep shaggy polyester pile. It belongs in front of the sofa or bed rather than in the hallway.
Does black work in a small room?
Yes, if walls and furniture are light. Then the rug acts like a frame instead of a hole in the floor.
