Round Rug Ø 200 cm
A little over three square metres, and not a single corner. A large round rug of 200 cm (about 6ft 7in across) gives a room a clear centre and leaves its corners free. That suits rooms with an alcove or a bay window, where a rectangle always seems to stop in the wrong place.
We have 103 designs in this diameter. Most are wool. Synthetic fibre and jute follow, with some cotton and viscose too.
Under a dining table it works just as well as in the living room. Add 110 to 120 cm to the diameter of the table, and the chairs stay on the rug even when someone pushes back. A round table of 80 to 90 cm fits exactly. For bigger tables there are 240 and 250 cm, and 26 of these designs even come as an extra large round rug of 300 cm.
How do you place a large round rug?
If a lamp hangs over the table, lamp, table and rug should sit on one axis. Otherwise the whole thing looks crooked. Even a few centimetres show.
In the living room a 200 cm circle takes the sofa together with coffee table and armchair. Centre it on the coffee table rather than on the middle of the room, and large round rugs in the living room look calm and deliberate. Two armchairs with a small table need only a 160cm round rug or a 150cm round rug. Every diameter is gathered under round rugs.
Material and colour
Several families offer a round wool rug in 200 cm. Large round jute rugs come with a short or a fuller pile, and more of them sit on the round jute rug page. The sisal look offers 13 colours in this size.
Beige is the most common shade, then cream and grey. Next to a wooden table a large round cream rug looks restrained, while red makes a contrast under a white top. And since a circle has no fixed direction, turn it by a quarter every few months so the pile wears evenly.
Flat weaves are practical under a dining table. In the living room the pile can be higher:
- flat: cotton kilims, jute and the sisal look
- medium: viscose and tufted wool
- higher: wool and deep shaggy pile
Frequently asked questions
What is 200 cm in feet?
About 6ft 7in across.
Which dining table fits on it?
A round one of 80 to 90 cm. That leaves 55 to 60 cm all round for the chairs.
What works under the dining table?
Flat weaves. Chairs glide more easily and crumbs stay on top, so shaggy pile is better kept for the sofa.
Anything bigger?
Yes, some designs also come in Ø 240, 250 or 300 cm.
