Monstera on the sideboard, a fern in the bathroom, herbs on the windowsill. If you live with lots of plants, sooner or later you wonder if the floor might join in. A green rug picks up that colour and brings it down to where your feet are. We have it in green, dark green and light green, made from five different materials.
Five materials in green
Most of the range falls into these groups:
- flat-woven cotton kilims, very flat, some from recycled cotton, as rectangles, round rugs and runners
- a sisal-look weave, four parts jute to one part cotton, short pile, also round and as a runner
- wool woven by hand, its pile full and deep, including round, square and runner shapes
- high pile in synthetic fibre, a viscose design in dark green and a light green outdoor rug made from recycled material
For softness underfoot, choose wool. Many more colours in that fibre are collected under wool rugs.
Green in the living room
Green goes with wood and linen. Next to a beige sofa or on a pale floor, green and beige make a calm, natural pairing. Grey works too. Grey upholstery frames the green, and you will find matching plain designs under grey rug, or with more contrast under black rug.
Under a coffee table a round green rug softens a very straight sofa. A large green rug, say 240 x 340 cm, holds a whole seating area together. For sizing the sofa corner, browse our living room rugs.
Hallway and kitchen get plenty of choice as well. A noticeable number of designs in this colour come as runners. Flat cotton or jute leaves doors and drawers free, which is handy in a kitchen.
Light, mid or dark green
A dark green rug feels cosy and heavy. Light green feels fresh. Brass and dark wood bring out the deeper tones, while white furniture makes the lighter ones look brighter still. Want it cooler? Then try a teal rug or a blue rug.
Frequently asked questions
Is the green kilim recycled?
One of the flat cotton kilims is woven from 100% recycled cotton. The other is listed as 100% cotton, without the word recycled.
How do I look after green jute?
Vacuum it regularly and blot spills straight away with a cloth. Jute prefers dry cleaning to wet.
Does dark green show dust?
Light fluff stands out more on dark shades than on mid tones. Regular vacuuming keeps it under control.
Is there a round one for the bedside?
Yes. Round shapes exist in cotton, the jute blend and wool, so you can choose between flat and soft.
