Long dining tables have a problem with round rugs. A circle is too short, a rectangle can feel too strict. An oval rug sits right in between, with the length of a rectangle and the soft edges of a circle. All seven designs are handwoven from jute.

Oval jute rugs compared
The differences lie in colour and pile height. Light brown is the standard, with five of the seven in this warm natural shade. Beige and anthracite come in one design. Anthracite, a very dark grey, suits cooler interiors with concrete or black furniture.
Almost all have a short pile. Chairs glide over it. Only one design has a fuller pile and feels coarser and thicker underfoot. Because each piece is woven by hand, small irregularities along the edge are simply part of its character.
Which size suits an oval rug?
Every design comes in five sizes between 80 x 150 cm and 200 x 290 cm. A few lines also come in 60 x 110 cm or 70 x 140 cm, enough in front of a bed or a chest of drawers.
Measure first. Reading corner or children's room? Then 120 x 170 cm is usually right. For an oval rug in the living room, choose 140 x 200 cm or 160 x 230 cm depending on the width of the couch, and the curved shape looks especially good with rounded sofa arms or a kidney-shaped coffee table. Further formats for that spot are under lounge rug. The large oval rug in 200 x 290 cm goes under an oval or long dining table, and chairs remain on the jute even when pushed back.
When another shape fits better
Clear edges come with a rectangle rug. In an alcove a square rug often sits more neatly. Should the natural fibre be fully round, look at a round jute rug, and for an even curve in a middle size there is the 160cm round rug.
Jute does not belong outside. For the patio there are designs under round outdoor rug.
Frequently asked questions
Does jute smell at first?
Often a little, like any natural fibre. With some airing it fades within a few days.
Is there an oval rug in beige?
Yes, one design comes in beige and also in anthracite.
Which oval has the thickest pile?
The one design with the fuller pile. The others are lower and are flatter.
How do I look after an oval jute rug?
Vacuuming once a week is usually enough. Blot spills straight away with kitchen paper without rubbing, because jute does not like getting wet.
Is there a grey oval?
Not in grey as such. Anthracite comes closest.
