Not everyone dares to go orange. Yet an orange rug usually makes a room feel warmer than expected, above all on pale wood or in front of a grey sofa. Twenty-eight designs are available right now. Most are a strong orange, a few the softer peach.
An orange rug in front of the grey sofa
A grey seating area can look a bit cool. Put orange underneath. The whole corner warms up. Natural wood, cognac leather and cream all sit comfortably alongside. It gets more exciting with dark blue or petrol, and a couple of navy cushions turn orange and blue into a deliberate pairing. Our living room rugs cover more sizes for the sofa.
Underfoot in wool
Soft orange? Go for wool. The plain handwoven design has a fuller pile and comes as a rectangle, a runner or a circle, and one patterned wool design joins it. Other colours in wool? See the wool rug collection.
In a dull hallway
Runners in orange start at 60 x 180 cm and reach 80 x 500 cm, bringing colour into a grey corridor, and because the cotton kilims among them lie very flat, the front door passes over them without catching. One is made of strips of recycled cotton fabric and looks a bit like a rag rug. The sisal-look runner, on the other hand, combines four parts jute with one part cotton and has a short pile.
By the armchair and in the bedroom
A round version in orange comes at Ø 80 cm, made of jute and cotton or of wool. That is plenty beside an armchair. Peach sits closer to a pale apricot and suits a bedroom or white children's furniture, where strong orange could feel loud.
Building a warm colour scheme across several rooms? A yellow rug next door feels sunny, and a red rug adds more strength. For something earthier, mix brown and orange with a brown rug. Orange and dark green work together too, say a green velvet sofa on an orange kilim.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have darker, earthy shades?
We do not list a separate earthy shade. The closest are orange and peach, so compare the product photos in daylight.
Is orange too much in a small room?
Not necessarily. A small size or a runner brings colour without filling the room, and peach is quieter than strong orange.
How do I care for orange jute?
Keep it dry. Vacuum regularly and blot spills at once with a dry cloth, otherwise marks can stay.
