Flat weave, so crumbs shake out

Nothing here stands up from the surface. The weave is flat, which means crumbs and pet hair come off easily, a useful thing under a table where toast tends to fall. This green jute rug is woven by hand in India, and the weave has a natural look. Made from 80% jute and 20% cotton, it has the dry, natural feel of the sisal rugs people often look for, although the fibre is jute, so we call it sisal-look. The back is felt with PVC dots, which helps it stay put, and the rug is suitable for underfloor heating.

Looking after the green sisal-look rug

Jute needs dry care, so read through looking after your rug before the first spill. Vacuum with the brush switched off and no steam. If something lands on it, press kitchen roll onto the spot straight away so no ring forms, and put a non-slip pad, a little smaller than the rug, underneath to stop it slipping and the corners lifting.
