Description
Standing at the counter with a coffee in the morning, you notice the floor underfoot, and a grey jute runner gives it a calm, natural look. This Jute Rugs runner is woven by hand in India from 80% jute and 20% cotton. Jute comes from the stems of the Corchorus plant, grown mostly in India and Bangladesh. You can see the natural fibre in the flat, finely ribbed weave.
Plain grey with a simple border keeps this runner easy to place. It works as a kitchen runner along the units, as a hall runner by the front door, or as a hallway runner on a long landing, and it is fine over underfloor heating. It has a felt backing with PVC nubs and is made to resist slipping. Like all our Runner Rugs, it is long and narrow, so measure the walkway and use the size guide to settle the length.
Because jute likes to stay dry, our guide on how to clean your rug keeps the habits simple. Soak up spills straight away with kitchen roll so no ring forms. Scrape off anything that has dried and vacuum it. Hang the runner over a banister to beat out dust, and keep it out of damp rooms. Crumbs have little to hide in.
