Blue sits comfortably next to white walls, a grey sofa or navy cushions. On this round jute rug the colour fills a plain centre inside a border, and the circle softens the straight edges of the furniture around it.

Feet and chair legs meet an even, flat weave with no pile to press down. Placed beneath a round table, the blue circle joins our Dining Room Rugs and follows the shape of the top. By an armchair in the lounge it marks out a reading spot. Warm floors are fine.

Woven by hand in India, the surface is 80% jute and 20% cotton, with a felt backing and PVC nubs below. Jute is known as the golden fibre because of its natural sheen. Here it has been dyed blue, one of several shades across our Jute Rugs.

Clean it dry, with the vacuum brush switched off and no steam. Our care guide also says jute should stay out of damp rooms such as a bathroom. Blue edges stay put when a slightly smaller anti-slip mat lies underneath.
