Does the silver Achat suit a family room?

Yes, and that is largely down to the pile. This low pile rug is machine woven, so the pattern stays crisp and the surface lies flat. With its faded silver pattern, the Achat has the calm look many people want from living room rugs, and it would sit just as well in a nursery or beside a kitchen worktop. Why does the Achat feel soft for a short pile?

The pile is 85% polypropylene and 15% polyester, with a jute backing. Polyester feels soft underfoot, which is why the Achat does not feel hard despite its short pile. Polypropylene is dyed right through the fibre, as with our other synthetic fibre rugs, so the silver stays even. The Achat is rectangular, so it fits under a sofa and coffee table, or under a dining table. Tape the outline on the floor first, then work out the size that suits your silver Achat. The rug is also fine over underfloor heating.

How do I keep the silver Achat clean?

Spills sit on the fibre for a while, so there is time to blot with a cloth. Then work on the spot with a little diluted washing-up liquid, and dab with clean water. Cut a little smaller than the rug, a non-slip pad stops slipping and curling corners, as our care guide suggests for smooth floors.
