A beige check runs across the whole surface of the Eddy, a pattern that stays calm rather than loud. Because the squares are soft in tone, it looks at home in a calm, neutral room. Its shaggy, high pile softens the edges of each square.

Underfoot it feels soft, which is the polyester doing its work. When a polyester yarn is spun very fine it's called microfibre, and that is where the gentle touch comes from. Our Synthetic Fibre Rugs all share that easygoing character.

Polyester makes up 100% of the beige Eddy, woven by machine in Turkey on a jute backing. The machine weave gives the check its straight, even lines.

For a living room, the Eddy works when at least the front feet of the sofa and armchairs rest on it, so the seating reads as one group. It also suits a bedroom or a nursery, where bare feet meet it first thing in the morning. Spills sit on the fibre for a while, so you can blot a spilt drink with a cloth before it sinks in, using as little water as possible. Our rug care guide suggests combing the beige Eddy's long pile with a wide-toothed comb so it doesn't mat. Vacuum without the rotating brush. Flattened patches lift again when you brush them against the pile.
