A black and white check can anchor a room without shouting, which is why the Eddy gets so much use in lounges, bedrooms and children's rooms. This black version works as a shaggy rug under a sofa, beside a bed or as a play spot in a nursery.

• Polyester pile, jute backing
• Machine-woven in Turkey
• High pile, rectangular
• Checked pattern in black
• Fine for underfloor heating

Made of 100% polyester, a soft, colourfast fibre, the black Eddy is deep and fluffy enough to feel cosy under bare feet. Woven on a machine, it keeps the lines straight. The pattern repeats cleanly. That makes it a calm choice among rugs for living room schemes, and equally easy to place among bedroom rugs or kids rugs. The black squares match the graphic mood of our Checked Rugs. Sofa and armchairs look good when at least their front feet rest on the rug, and our guide on which size to pick helps you work that out.

Spills sit on the polyester for a while, so there is time to blot a mark with a cloth, and the black Eddy needs only a little water afterwards. Comb the long pile with a wide-toothed comb so it doesn't mat, as described in looking after your rug. Vacuum without the rotating brush.
