Description

Blue stripes with a fringe at each end make the blue Kelim Chindi an easy match for grey sofas, pale floorboards and white kitchen units. This cotton rug is woven by hand in India, and the stripes give the flat surface a relaxed look.

What is the blue Kelim Chindi actually made of?

The face is 100% recycled cotton, sorted by colour and re-spun, and the back is cotton too. Chindi rugs are woven on a hand loom from strips cut from leftover textiles, so the spread of blue and neighbouring shades differs a little from one rug to the next. That is part of the charm rather than a flaw. The weave is flat, and the fringe finishes the short ends. Prefer the stripes in another shade? Kelim Chindi also comes in beige, brown, yellow, grey, green and black, and every colour keeps the light feel of our Cotton Rugs.

Which rooms suit the blue stripes?

Blue stripes sit comfortably in a lounge, so the Chindi makes an easy living room rug next to a grey sofa. A flat weave also makes sense under a dining table, because chairs are easier to move on it. It works well as a kitchen rug in front of the worktop, and a nursery rug too, where a light cotton surface is easy to move. It can lie over underfloor heating too. Because the shape is rectangular, it lines up neatly with sofas, beds and tables. Measure the sofa or table before choosing the right size.

How do I look after the blue Kelim Chindi?

Vacuum lightly or shake it outdoors now and then, and dab small marks with cold water and a mild soap. Let the cotton dry through before furniture goes back on it, as our guide to looking after your rug recommends. Blue Chindi rugs like this one can be turned over every so often.
