Description
Saturday breakfast, bare feet under the table, a child kneeling on a chair to reach the jam. The orange Kelim Chindi brightens the floor beneath them all.
What is the orange Kelim Chindi made from?
Strips of leftover fabric, cut and woven on a handloom in India, give this cotton rug its stripes. The weave is 100% recycled cotton. Because the strips vary, every orange Kelim Chindi comes out with a slightly different spread of colour. It belongs with our cotton rugs and is fine over underfloor heating. Handwoven pieces may differ a little from their listed size.
Will an orange rug work under the dining table?
Yes, as long as the chairs stay on it when pushed back. Mark the area with masking tape before choosing the right size. Family tables like that are where jaloom's dining room rugs earn their keep, the orange Chindi included. Beyond the dining room it also works as a kitchen rug in front of the sink, and it brings warmth to a nursery or a kids' room. In the lounge, orange looks good against grey or navy sofas.
How do I keep the orange Kelim Chindi in place?
Put an underlay with grip beneath it, cut a little smaller than the rug, so it doesn't slide on wooden floors or curl at the corners. Blot spills on the orange cotton quickly, as our rug care tips describe. A light vacuum and a shake outdoors are enough for regular cleaning.
