Orange is a colour that wakes up a room, and the Azizi has plenty of it. This flat-woven cotton rug is covered in a pattern, so it brings warmth to a bare floor without needing much else around it.

Handwoven in India from pure cotton

The Azizi is woven by hand on a loom in India. Both the surface and the backing are cotton, and the weave is flat and light. Crumbs and hairs lift off easily, and a quick shake does most of the work. Over underfloor heating it is fine too. Pure cotton is the natural fibre behind all our cotton rugs, and the orange shows how well it takes dye.

Orange reads as a bright accent in a living room, and the pattern sits well next to plain sofas. Put it in front of the kitchen worktop for a cheerful splash of orange, and in a nursery or a child's room the flat surface is easy to sweep up after play. Under a dining table, choose a size where the chairs still stand on the rug when pulled back. A flat weave makes it easier to slide the chairs back and forth. It comes as a rectangle, and which size to pick is easier once you have measured the floor with masking tape. The Azizi also comes in other colours, including beige, blue and green.

Looking after the Azizi in Orange

Shake it out and vacuum lightly now and then. For a small mark on the Azizi, dab with cold water and a little mild soap, the way our notes on how to clean your rug describe. Then let it dry fully before it goes back under the furniture. An occasional turn keeps the wear even.
