A white bedroom with linen curtains and a pale wooden floor is where this round Gabbeh feels at home. Below a round dining table it works too, giving the chairs a light, soft base. Among our bedroom rugs it is the plain white circle for beside the bed, and it can lie over underfloor heating.

Wool fibre is naturally crimped. It holds air between its tiny waves. With a 100% wool pile, a wool back and a short pile woven by hand in India, this round wool rug belongs with jaloom's wool rugs. Handmade pieces can vary slightly from their listed size, so work out the size with a margin of floor before ordering.

The care guide suggests blotting spills on white wool with a light cloth, from the edge to the centre, without rubbing. Loose fibres come out at first and lessen with vacuuming, and stray threads are trimmed with scissors, not pulled. Its weave underneath is wool too.
