Breakfast at the round table, toast crumbs, and a sunny yellow circle underneath. This plain Gabbeh is a round wool rug that brings morning colour to a dining area.

Pure wool makes up the pile, and the back is wool too. The yellow Gabbeh was woven by hand in India, with warp and weft crossing to give it a flat, even base under a short pile. Being wool, it is slow to catch fire and won't melt.

Below a round dining table, a circle rug picks up the shape of the table top. Among our dining room rugs this one is for people who like colour at mealtimes. Used as a rug for the living room or the bedroom, yellow works with white, grey or natural wood. Over underfloor heating it lies happily.

Each piece is handwoven, so it can differ slightly from the listed size. Mark the space out first and choose the size that leaves floor showing around it. More plain shades sit beside it in our wool rugs.

If coffee spills, dab it with a light cloth from the outside in and leave rubbing out of it. Loose fibres turn up at first and fade with vacuuming, and a stray thread gets snipped with scissors, never pulled, as our care guide shows. Between spills, the yellow wool just gets a regular vacuum.
