White is the colour for a room that needs light more than pattern, and the Breeze does that job without any fuss. This shaggy rug is a plain, even white with no motif, so it sits easily in a room with a light, calm look.

Its pile is 100% polyester, backed with cotton. It's machine-woven in China, which gives a regular, tidy surface. Polyester takes in very little moisture, so a splash stays on the fibre for a while.

The Breeze works well in a living room, where a deep pile softens the floor in front of the sofa. It's just as happy in a bedroom, with a patch of softness for bare feet first thing in the morning. It also suits a nursery, where a soft surface is welcome. If you're after some texture in the lounge, a white high pile is a lovely way to get it. It comes as a rectangle, which lines up with a sofa as neatly as any of our Living Room Rugs.

White isn't your only choice, either: the Breeze also comes in beige, blue, cream, dark brown, dark grey and green, and every one of these synthetic fibre rugs has the same deep polyester pile. Mark out the length and width with tape before you decide which size to pick.

For upkeep, vacuum without the rotating brush and treat spills the way our care guide describes. Comb the pile through now and then so it doesn't mat, and a non-slip pad cut slightly smaller than the rug stops the edges lifting.
