Blue suits a room with white walls and pale wood, and the Liana brings it in through a worn vintage pattern rather than a solid block of colour. Place it before a sofa, next to a bed or beneath the dining table. Cushions in navy or a pale grey throw echo the colour nicely.

Jacquard looms in Turkey weave every line of the design sharply, so the faded look is part of the design. The short pile is 100% polypropylene on a jute backing. That makes this low pile rug an easy pick for a kitchen or a kids' room, it suits underfloor heating, and it has a place among both our vintage rugs and the synthetic fibre rugs.

Following our cleaning advice, a stain on the blue Liana gets a gentle dab with water and a mild washing agent, then with clean water. Heat is the real danger. Brush dented spots upright again where chair legs have stood.
