Description
A runner full of colour lifts a plain hallway or a white kitchen. The Gabbeh Don brings a multicoloured pattern in a long, narrow shape that sits well with wooden floors and white walls.
What is the Gabbeh Don runner woven from?
From 100% wool, with a wool backing, made on a handloom in India. Wool is slow to catch fire and does not melt, a reassuring point for a runner by the kitchen worktops. In style it belongs to the gabbeh rugs, and in material to our Wool Rugs.
Does the Gabbeh Don runner suit a hallway or a bedroom?
Both. Along a hall it makes a hall runner with a short pile, so this low pile rug lies close to the floor. Beside the bed, it sits among jaloom's Bedroom Rugs as a cheerful strip to step onto. Kitchen worktops are another good spot. Use our advice on rug sizes to choose a length, and allow for slight variation, since it is made by hand. Over underfloor heating the runner is fine too.
How do I clean the Gabbeh Don runner?
Blot spills with a light cloth from the edge inwards, without rubbing. An underlay a little smaller than the runner keeps the corners down, which is part of how to clean your rug and keep it flat. Turn the runner end to end now and then so sun and footsteps spread out.
