A living room with plain walls gets plenty of warmth from the red Nain Diane. At the foot of a bed or under a dining table it works just as well.

Short pile keeps it low, so the red rug also suits a kitchen or a kids' room, and underfloor heating is fine. Next to a sofa it is one of our living room rugs with a traditional ornament.

Its pile mixes 80% polypropylene with 20% polyester, set on a jute backing and machine-woven in Turkey. That blend puts this low pile rug with our synthetic fibre rugs, and the Jacquard weave keeps the ornaments sharp at the edges.

Mark the area on the floor with masking tape and check it against our sizing tips, so the front feet of the sofa can rest on the red border.
