Picture the dining room on a wet Sunday: chairs scraping, crumbs under the table, a pot of tea going cold. The Boho in beige is a checkered rug made for exactly that kind of room, and it sits just as happily in the kitchen or the living room.

Flat weave, so chairs and trolleys glide

This is one of our flatweave rugs, so there is no pile to catch on a chair leg or a vacuum head. The beige check is calm and a little rustic, which makes it an easy match for pale wood, rattan or a dark sofa. For the lounge, rugs for living room use like this look right when at least the front feet of the sofa and armchairs rest on the rug, so the seating reads as one group. The rectangular shape suits a dining table or a long kitchen run, and it comes in several sizes, so pick the size that lets the chairs stay on the beige check.

The beige Boho in polypropylene and jute

Polypropylene makes up all of the pile, woven by machine in Turkey, with a jute backing underneath. Polypropylene is a synthetic fibre dyed all the way through, and it takes up hardly any water. That is why this outdoor rug can go on a covered terrace as well as indoors. The soft beige squares give a gentler take on the classic checked rug, and because the synthetic fibre is coloured right through, the check stays even outdoors. A kitchen rug has to put up with warm floors too, and this one is fine on underfloor heating.

Keeping the beige check looking fresh

Our rug care guide keeps it simple for polypropylene like this. A brush-head vacuum is fine on this short weave, and a flattened patch can be brushed upright again. Cut a non-slip underlay a touch smaller than the rug to keep it flat and stop the corners curling up.
