What is the Boho in Beige actually made of?

Its surface is 100% polypropylene, a synthetic fibre that takes up hardly any water, and the backing is jute. It was woven by machine in Turkey, which gives the check its straight, even lines. Like other flatweave rugs, it has no pile to speak of, so chair legs move easily over it. Polypropylene doesn't like heat, though, so keep hot pans and irons well away.

Where the Boho in Beige looks right

The check suits a living room as much as a kitchen, where it can sit in front of the worktop. Under a dining table, choose a size so the chairs still stand on it when pulled out; which size to pick is easy to work out with masking tape on the floor. Outdoor use suits it too, and it is happy over underfloor heating. For a lounge, try to have at least the front feet of the sofa on it, so the seating reads as one group. A runner and a round version in the same beige are also available if you want to dress a hallway or a table.

How do I keep the beige check tidy?

Spills stay on the surface for a while, so blot straight away and then, as our rug cleaning guide explains, use a cloth with a little soapy water before dabbing with clean water. A brush-head vacuum cleaner is fine on a short, flat weave like this. If a flattened pile needs a lift, a brush will bring it back up.
