Recycled PET, woven on a loom in India

Made from 100% polyester from recycled PET, this rug has a polyester back. Weavers in India make it by hand on the loom, so the surface is flat and has no pile. That gives the red a crisp, even look, and as a synthetic fibre rug it takes up very little moisture. Because it is handmade, small differences in the weave are normal.

Where the red one earns its place

This one is made for rooms that get used. Used as a kitchen rug, it lies in front of the worktop, and as a dining room rug it gives the chairs a flat surface to slide on. It also works well in a living room, and the flat weave keeps the surface even under armchairs. Outdoor use is fine too, so the same rug can move to a covered terrace in summer. It copes with underfloor heating as well. Mark the area with masking tape and choose a size that leaves the red pattern room to show. The same design also comes in cream, grey and light green.

Keeping the red looking sharp

Polyester takes its time before a spill soaks in, so blot first and then go over the mark with a damp cloth and a small amount of gentle soap. Heat is what polyester copes with least, so keep the red rug away from radiators and open fires, and treat spills the way our care guide describes, blotting first and dabbing with clean water afterwards. If the surface ever looks pressed down, a brush lifts it again, and a brush vacuum is fine on a flat weave like this.
