Grey is a quiet partner for oak tables, linen sofas and black metal chairs, and the Deja in grey picks up that calm. The pattern gives a plain wooden floor something to look at without competing with your furniture. Like most flatweave rugs, it lets chairs shuffle back and forth easily.

The face is 100% polypropylene, a synthetic fibre that takes up hardly any water, and the back is jute. This rug is woven on a machine in Turkey, which is why the lines of the pattern come out so crisp and even across the whole rug. Because the weave is flat, a suction head with a brush copes well with crumbs and dust.

You can lay the Deja outside as well as in. On a covered terrace it works as an outdoor rug under a bistro set, and indoors it fits the kitchen, where a kitchen rug in front of the worktop takes the knocks of daily cooking. Under the dining table, the grey Deja needs to be big enough for the chairs to stay on it when pulled out. That makes it a practical dining room rug, and with the table measured it is easy to pick the size.

Polypropylene is sensitive to heat, so keep hot pans and irons well away. Spills do not soak in straight away, which gives you time to blot them, then a little mild soap in water finishes the job, as our rug care page suggests. A brush attachment is fine on this flat surface, and a non-slip pad slightly smaller than the rug keeps the corners down.
