Soft, matt and a little dry to the touch: that is cotton in a flat weave, and the Kelim Durry in Green has exactly that feel. This cotton rug is woven by hand in India, with a green check pattern that looks fresh without shouting.

Flat-woven green cotton from India

The Kelim Durry is a flat weave. The yarn is 100% cotton, the back is cotton too, and the pattern comes from the weave itself, with warp and weft crossing over each other on the loom. Each one is made by hand, so the size can differ slightly from the stated measurements. With its flat weave, this green cotton rug is also suitable for underfloor heating.

Where a green checkered rug fits

Think of it as a calm, tidy rug for the kitchen, where it works well in front of the worktop, or under a dining table where chairs slide back easily over the flat weave. The check pattern is lively enough for a children's room too, where it gives a soft patch of floor for play. In the lounge it makes a fresh, easy-going living room rug beside a sofa. It comes as a rectangle in several sizes, and measuring the space first makes it easier to pick the size of green Durry you need.

Looking after the green Kelim Durry

Cotton this light can slide on smooth floors, so lay a non-slip pad underneath, a little smaller than the rug, to stop it slipping and keep the corners flat. Blot spills quickly from the outside in, following our cleaning advice, and let the weave dry fully before the furniture goes back. Otherwise, a light vacuum or a shake outdoors is all it needs.
