Blue is an easy colour to live with, and the Silky in blue suits a calm lounge as well as a child's room. It sits well beside grey, white or pale wood. This tufted rug has a plain, single-colour surface, so it lets the furniture around it do the talking.

Soft microfibre pile on a cotton back

On the Silky in blue, the pile is 100% polyester, spun as very fine microfibre, which is why it feels so soft underfoot. Underneath sits a cotton backing. Each rug is hand-tufted in India: the yarn is worked into a woven base with a hand-held tufting tool, and the back is then covered with fabric. Because the rug is made by hand, it can differ slightly from the stated size. It is a shaggy rug with a high pile and works with underfloor heating, which is useful in a bedroom or nursery.

Where this blue rectangle fits

Its rectangular shape suits the space in front of a sofa, where at least the front feet of the furniture can rest on it, and it works just as well beside a bed for bare feet in the morning. Blue is a lovely choice for a living room, and it also makes sense as a kids' rug or nursery rug, as it reads as gentle rather than loud. The blue Silky shares its microfibre softness with our Synthetic Fibre Rugs and suits a sofa as well as any of our Living Room Rugs. The Silky also comes in beige, brown, cream, grey, green and light grey, and our advice on rug sizes helps you pick the right size.

Looking after the blue Silky

Polyester does not soak up liquid straight away, so a spill gives you a little time to blot it with hardly any water. Our guide on how to clean your rug suggests combing the blue pile with a wide-toothed comb so it doesn't mat and turning the rug now and then. Flattened areas lift when you brush them against the pile. Vacuum without the rotating brush.
