Brown does a lot of quiet work in a lounge. The Silky in brown sits comfortably between pale walls and a darker sofa, and it suits any living room scheme where you want something warm underfoot without a pattern competing for attention. This one is plain, one even shade from edge to edge.

Walk across it barefoot and you'll notice the soft, smooth microfibre pile, which is what gives the Silky its feel. It also fits a bedroom, where stepping out of bed onto something plush makes the mornings a little gentler, and the plain finish keeps the room looking calm rather than busy. In a nursery or a child's room it gives a soft spot for floor play, and it sits happily among our Kids Room Rugs for anyone building up a playroom corner.

Polyester microfibre makes up 100% of the brown pile, spun very fine, which is why this shaggy rug feels so smooth. Underneath is a cotton backing. Each Silky is a hand-tufted rug from India: yarn is pushed through a base cloth with a hand-held tufting tool, and the back is then covered with fabric. Because of that, the brown can look slightly lighter or darker depending on the light and the pile direction. The rug is happy over underfloor heating, so it works well in a cosy bedroom or lounge in winter.

It comes as a rectangle, and the Silky is also available in beige, blue, cream, grey, green and light grey. Measuring up is easier with a little guidance, and finding the right fit takes only a few minutes. Like the other Synthetic Fibre Rugs in our shop, it is easy to look after.

For day-to-day care, how to clean your rug is covered on our care page. Liquid sits on the fibre for a while, so if the brown Silky gets a splash, you have time to blot it, and then the long pile only wants a little water and a comb through so it doesn't mat.
