Microfibre pile, hand-tufted in India

Spun very fine, the 100% polyester microfibre of the Silky in brown is set on a cotton backing. A hand-held tufting tool pushes the yarn into the base cloth, so each runner is made by hand in India. Because the surface catches the light, the brown looks a little lighter or darker depending on which way you view it. This is a plain, single-colour design with a deep, shaggy pile, and it sits comfortably on underfloor heating.

Where this runner goes

Combing and brushing the brown Silky runner

Spills stay on the surface for a while, so you can blot them before they sink in, and the care guide advises keeping water to a minimum on the long pile. Comb it through with a wide-toothed comb so it doesn't mat, and brush flat patches against the pile. Every so often, give the brown runner a turn, and leave the rotating brush off when you vacuum.
