Beside the bed is where the cream Silky runner earns its place. The first step lands on a soft, shaggy pile instead of cold boards.

The pile is 100% polyester microfibre, set into a cotton backing. The Silky is a tufted rug made by hand in India, with the yarn pushed into the backing using a hand-held tufting gun. Light and the direction of the pile change how it looks, so the cream can seem paler from one end and a shade deeper from the other. Being made by hand, a runner like this can differ slightly from its listed measurements.

Like our other synthetic fibre rugs, the cream Silky can lie over underfloor heating.

Following the care guide for shaggy rugs, vacuum the Silky with the rotating brush turned off and comb the pile through with a wide-toothed comb so it doesn't mat. Keep water to a minimum. Where a bedside table has flattened the cream pile, brush it up against the grain.
