Grey sits quietly next to bright cushions or plain white walls, so the Holly Zen in grey suits a living room that already has colour elsewhere. Nothing shouts.

• Short pile with a high-low effect
• Suitable for underfloor heating
• Handwoven in India
• 100% polyester microfibre pile on a cotton backing

Raised and lower areas come from the way warp and weft are worked on the loom, so this low pile rug has a relief you can trace with your fingertips. Among our living room rugs it is a calm grey choice, and it works just as well in a kids' room or beside the kitchen table. The grey version shares its fine yarn with our synthetic fibre rugs and is woven onto a cotton base.

Our care guide walks through spills, which you treat on this grey rug by blotting first, then dabbing with diluted mild detergent and finishing with clear water. Only heat does real harm. Patches pressed down by furniture stand up again under a brush, since the microfibre pile is short.
