A living room with a cream sofa and oak side tables is where the Sina in mottled beige keeps the floor calm. Look closely and the beige breaks into lighter and darker flecks, which gives a plain colour some depth.

Like every Sina among our wool rugs, its pile is 100% wool on a cotton backing. The Sina is hand-tufted in India. A worker pushes the yarn into a base fabric with a hand-held tufting tool, and a fabric layer then covers the back. Wool fibre is crimped, so it holds air between the strands.

Lay the Sina on an underlay cut a bit smaller than the rug so it stays flat, and keep our cleaning advice to hand for spills. Loose fibres in the first weeks go with regular vacuuming. If tea lands on the beige, blot it with a light cloth from the outside in, without rubbing.
