Soft, springy wool with a mottled grey surface: kneel on the Sina in grey marl and that is what you feel first. Its low pile suits underfloor heating, and wool is slow to catch fire and will not melt. Once at least their front feet rest on it, a sofa and armchairs in the lounge read as one group, so work that overlap out with our advice on rug sizes before you order.

The grey marl Sina is 100% wool in the pile on a cotton backing, hand-tufted in India. That puts this wool rug among our wool rugs, and under a table it works just as well with our dining room rugs. Bedrooms suit it too. Beside plain grey or white upholstery, the mottle gives the floor a little life without pattern.

Keep our cleaning advice handy, and dampen furniture dents lightly so the wool can rise again. Turn it now and then and beat it from the back, and the short, springy wool pile stays even.
