Soft, matt and easy to move: the Kelim Chindi Uni in white is a flat-woven rug made from fabric strips, with fringes at both ends. Cotton comes from the seed hairs of the cotton plant and takes dye well.

Woven by hand from offcuts

This white Chindi is woven on a hand loom in India. The strips are cut from textile offcuts, which means the spread of tone and texture differs a little from one rug to the next. Both pile and backing are 100% cotton, and the weave is flat, so it stays easy to move around. It also works over underfloor heating.

Where a white flat-weave sits well

Beside the bed it does the job of one of our bedroom rugs, and it also fits a living room corner, a kids' room or the floor in front of the kitchen worktop. Kitchens call for a washable rug, and this one is. Looking after the white Kelim Chindi

Unlike other cotton rugs, the Kelim Chindi Uni can go in the machine at 30 °C, washed on its own, and left to dry flat and fully, never in the tumble dryer, as our rug care guide explains. Put a non-slip underlay beneath so the light fabric stays flat. A light vacuum and a shake out is enough for day-to-day dust.
