Put a brown runner next to pale wooden units or a white-painted bedframe and it sits in nicely. This one is a cotton rug in a plain, warm brown, so it makes a calm backdrop in the room.

The Kelim Chindi Uni is woven on a hand loom from strips of fabric cut from leftover textiles. Because of that, the spread of colour shifts slightly from one piece to the next. Cotton comes from the seed hairs of the cotton plant and takes dye well, so the brown looks soft rather than glossy. As a kitchen runner it stands in front of the worktop, and as a hallway runner it follows the line of the floor. In a bedroom or kids' room, a pair on either side of the bed gives you something soft to step onto. Washing the brown runner

This rug can go in the washing machine at 30 °C, as covered in the care guide. Day to day, a light vacuum and a shake outside is enough. If coffee lands on it, soak it up with a cloth, dab with cold water and a drop of mild detergent, then leave it to dry fully before it goes back on the floor.
