Woven by hand in India, this rug has a flat weave with no pile. Because the weave is flat, it feels light and is easy to lift and shake out. The yarn is 100% cotton and so is the backing. The fringes grow out of the weave itself. The Chindi Uni also copes with underfloor heating.

Washing the green Chindi Uni runner

This one is simple to look after: give it a light vacuum and a shake, the routine our rug care tips set out for flat weaves. A small spot comes out with cold water and a mild detergent. Unlike other cotton rugs, the Chindi Uni is machine washable at 30 °C. Wash it on its own and dry it flat, not in the tumble dryer. Let it dry thoroughly afterwards. The flat weave has no pile, so there is nothing to flatten.
