Its short pile lies flat, so chairs around a round dining table move easily over it. Among our dining room rugs it is one of the round choices. Beside the bed or a reading chair it works as a circle rug, and as a rug for the living room it gives a small seating area a soft middle. On smooth floors, a slightly smaller underlay keeps it in place. Over underfloor heating it lies fine. Each piece is handmade and can differ slightly from the listed size, so find the size that leaves floor showing all round.

What goes into the taupe Lui

Pure wool. Its pile is 100% wool and the back is wool too, woven by hand in India with a short pile. Every wool fibre has a natural crimp that holds pockets of air. Taupe puts it among jaloom's wool rugs in a plain colour.

Care for the taupe Lui circle

Loose fibres come out of the new wool at first and become fewer with regular vacuuming. Stray threads should be cut with scissors, not pulled, as our care guide shows. Taupe wool flattened by a table leg usually rises again when you dampen it lightly.
