Soft, slightly springy wool in white, cut into a clean circle. Run your hand over the Lui and the short pile feels even and dry, with the warmth you expect from wool.

A round shape breaks up the straight lines of shelves, sofas and door frames. Next to an armchair, this round wool rug marks out a reading corner as its own island. It suits the lounge or the bedroom, and among our round rugs it is the plain white one. Over underfloor heating it lies fine.

Wool comes from the sheep, a natural fibre. Here it makes up 100% of the pile, and the back is wool too. The white Lui was woven by hand in India and shares its fibre with jaloom's wool rugs.

Handwoven, the white Lui may vary a little from its listed size. Mark the circle out on the floor with masking tape and choose the size that leaves some floor around the chair.

Trim a raised thread with scissors instead of pulling it. Dents from armchair feet lift again after a light dampening, as our care guide describes. Beat it out from the back sometimes.
