Description
Red at the cooker, red under bare feet while the kettle boils. This jute runner is flat-woven with a plain red centre and a border, so it frames the floor in front of the worktop without pulling focus from everything else. Our full Kitchen Rugs range shows how other kitchen styles sit alongside it, and the same shape works as a hallway runner or hall runner when you have a narrow passage to fill.
Handwoven in India, the red runner is made from 80% jute and 20% cotton, with a felt back. Jute is a plant fibre grown mostly in India and Bangladesh, renewable and biodegradable, and it feels firmer underfoot than wool. It suits underfloor heating. The jute rugs in this style also come in other colours. Along a hallway, leave a little bare floor at the wall and in front of doors so they swing freely, and check which size to pick before you buy.
Keep care dry. Mop up a spill at once with kitchen roll so no ring forms, and scrape off anything that has dried before you vacuum. To shake it out, hang the runner over a banister. More in our care guide. Keep it away from water.
