What is the Bahar made of?

The pile is half viscose, half polyester, on a jute backing. Polyester is soft and colourfast, and a pile this fine feels soft underfoot. It's machine-woven in Turkey on a jacquard loom, so the lines of the pattern are crisp and the faded look comes from the design rather than from age. Because the pile is short, it also suits underfloor heating.

Where would you put a beige rug like this?

Mostly in the living room, where it works well with the rest of our synthetic fibre rugs if you like to mix textures. It also suits busier rooms such as the kitchen and dining room. In a nursery or a child's bedroom the flat surface suits building blocks and floor play, and in the dining room the flat surface makes it easier to move the chairs. How do you look after the Bahar?

Our care guide covers the basics: vacuum regularly, and if you spill something, blot it straight away rather than rubbing. A vacuum with a brush head is fine on a pile this short. Where furniture has pressed the pile flat, a soft brush lifts it again. Put a non-slip pad underneath, cut slightly smaller than the rug, so the corners stay flat.
