Description
Cotton feels soft and matt under bare feet and doesn't scratch. The black Kelim Chindi is woven from it, stripe by stripe, with a short fringe at each end.
Black stripes in recycled cotton
This cotton rug is 100% recycled cotton, handwoven in India. The fibre itself comes from the fluffy hairs around the cotton plant's seeds, and it takes dye readily, which suits a deep black. Like jaloom's cotton rugs in general, it can lie over underfloor heating. As a handwoven piece it may differ slightly in size.
The black Kelim Chindi in the kitchen and dining room
Under a dining table, choose it big enough that the chairs stay on it when someone pushes back. Masking tape on the floor helps before choosing the right size. Black stripes also make a strong kitchen rug in front of the sink, and it is listed with our kitchen rugs.
Black Kelim Chindi in the living room and nursery
Against pale floorboards in a living room, the black stripes stand out clearly. A nursery or another children's room gets a bold, graphic floor.
Caring for the black Kelim Chindi
Light vacuuming and a shake outside, as set out in our rug care tips, are enough for the black Chindi. Small marks come off with cold water and a mild cleaner. Let any damp patch dry through completely before the chairs go back on the flat cotton weave.
