What is the Azizi in grey made of?

Both the surface and the backing are cotton, and the Azizi is woven by hand in India. The weave is flat, so crumbs and hairs are easy to remove. Like all cotton rugs, it starts with fibre from the seed hairs of the cotton plant, which takes dye well, so the grey looks even and soft rather than harsh.

Which rooms does a grey Kelim suit?

Rectangular, it works under a sofa in the living room, and it is just as happy under the table in the dining room. For a nursery or a child's room the flat surface is easy for floor play, and in front of the worktop it makes a calm kitchen rug. Handwoven pieces vary a little from rug to rug. How do you look after the Azizi?

Because this Kelim is flat woven, it is worth turning over every so often. Under it, a non-slip underlay a little smaller than the rug keeps the thin cotton lying flat and stops the corners from lifting.
