Spilled juice, a dropped slice of toast, a pair of muddy trainers: the kitchen floor sees it all before breakfast is over. The Azizi runner in beige is a flat-woven cotton rug in a soft sand tone, with a pattern that doesn't shout. It sits happily in front of the worktop or along a narrow hallway.

Handwoven in India, cotton from pile to backing

Every Azizi runner is woven by hand in India on a loom, and the cotton goes all the way through: 100% cotton in the weave, cotton in the backing. Because there is no pile, the surface is smooth and the pattern sits right in the weave. Being light, it takes no effort to lift and shake out. Like our other cotton range, it feels soft and matt and doesn't scratch bare feet. Small irregularities are normal in handwoven work.

Beige runner for the kitchen, the hallway or a child's room

The long, narrow shape suits a galley kitchen, where a beige runner can run the length of the units. Along a hallway it frames the way through. For a child's room, a flat weave is easy for toy cars and building bricks to roll across. Beige keeps things calm and works well with many cupboard colours. Looking after your Azizi runner

Cotton can be tricky with coffee, so follow our rug care tips: vacuum it lightly and give it a shake outside now and then. A flat weave can creep on smooth floors, so a non-slip pad cut slightly smaller than the runner keeps the ends from curling. If something spills, blot it up at once with a cloth and dab the mark with cold water and a little mild detergent.
