Brush your palm across the Sol in brown and the short polypropylene pile feels dense and dry. Its faded vintage pattern in warm browns hides little of its structure, which is part of the appeal.

Inside the brown Sol

A pile of 100% polypropylene sits on a jute backing. Jacquard machines in Turkey weave the brown design, so its lines stay exact from edge to edge. Polypropylene reacts badly to heat. Avoid putting hot pans or a hair straightener down on it. With that yarn, the Sol is one of jaloom's synthetic fibre rugs.

The Sol in brown, from kitchen to lounge

Brown is a forgiving shade for the floor of a busy kitchen, and the Sol appears among our kitchen rugs because of that. Being a low pile rug, it also works in a living room, a dining room or a kids' room, over underfloor heating too. There are grey, light brown and black and white versions of the same design. Measure first, then turn to choosing the right size.

Looking after the Sol in brown

Following our cleaning advice, the brown Sol needs little more than a regular brush-head vacuum and a grippy underlay a bit smaller than the rug on smooth floors. Patches flattened by furniture brush back up. Its short pile recovers quickly from that.
