A small living room. Three-seater against the wall, coffee table in front. For that layout many people search for a 160x220 rug.
That exact size is not in our range. The nearest is 160 x 230 cm, ten centimetres longer, and for some designs 170 x 240 cm. As long as the front feet of the sofa rest on the rug, the difference changes nothing.
Laying a 160x220 rug
Lengthways, slightly wider than the seat. Along the walls keep a strip of floor visible, twenty centimetres is plenty. If the sofa stands in the middle of the room, the rug can run a little underneath it, which makes the group look settled. In a narrow room, keep it parallel to the sofa. All four legs of the coffee table should stand on it, or the table rocks on the edge every time someone puts down a mug. Further layouts are on rugs for living room.
Fibres and patterns
Nala in jute keeps the room light and calm. Gabbeh Uni is handwoven wool. The pattern comes from oriental rugs such as Nain Diane, while the vintage designs in synthetic fibre have softly faded colours that look inherited. For a patio there is Deja in polypropylene.
Neighbouring sizes
Around this size you have the 160x230 rug and the 170x240 rug. Smaller is the rug 140x200, and a large lounge takes the 200x300 rug.
Frequently asked questions
Why 160 x 230 and not 160 x 220?
160 x 220 cm is not part of our range. The next size up is 160 x 230 cm.
Does it have to go under the sofa?
The front feet are enough. It does not need to reach right underneath.
Will it fit under a dining table?
For a small table with four chairs, only just. Larger tables need 200 x 300 cm.
Is the jute soft?
Firm. Comfortable to walk on, not plush.
Underfloor heating?
It depends on the design. The product page says so.
