Two and a half metres long and 80 cm wide, roughly 2ft 7in by 8ft 2in. A runner rug 80x250 covers a flat hallway in one piece, from the front door to the kitchen.
This page also brings together runners 240 cm long and 70 to 80 cm wide. Ten centimetres? In a hallway, hardly. You will find wool, jute, cotton, viscose and outdoor polypropylene. Most come from India, woven or tufted by hand, and only a few are made on a machine loom in Turkey or China.
The runner rug 80x250 in the hallway
Width? Rarely over 1.20 m. With 80 cm you keep about 20 cm of floor on each side. No furniture on top.
Before ordering, measure from door to door and take off around thirty centimetres at each end. If you are left with a little over two and a half metres, this length works.
Wool, cotton, jute and viscose
Alongside a double bed, wool keeps your feet warm in the morning, when the floorboards are still cold and you are only half awake. Gabbeh Uni, Gabbeh Lola and the hand-tufted Sina are good examples, while Ava in viscose is soft with a gentle sheen.
In front of the worktop, flat cotton kilims are practical. Chindi Uni is washable, Chindi is recycled cotton, and Azizi and Mia have a woven pattern. Softer? Silky, Breeze and Eddy, all long pile. Esha has a vintage look, and Deja and Boho in polypropylene can go out on the terrace.
Other lengths
A short hall takes the runner rug 80x200. Longer ones need the runner rug 80x300 or a long runner rug of 400 cm, and very long ones an extra long runner rug. In front of the worktop, see the kitchen runner range. Every length is on our runner rug page.
Frequently asked questions
Will it slip on tiles?
Without an underlay it can move. A non-slip strip the length of the runner holds it.
What is the difference from 80 x 300?
Fifty centimetres of length. Measure the hall and subtract about 30 cm at each end.
Why are there 240 cm runners here too?
They are only ten centimetres shorter and fit the same hallways. The exact size is shown on every variant.
Does it suit underfloor heating?
It is listed on the product page of each design.
Can it go in the kitchen?
Yes. A flat cotton kilim such as Chindi Uni is the practical choice there, as it can be washed.
