Red does a lot of work in a room. Next to a charcoal sofa or a stack of cream cushions, the Azizi in red becomes the one warm note everything else can quietly orbit, while the geometric pattern keeps it from shouting. Pale oak, painted shelves and dark linen all sit comfortably beside it.

The red Azizi is a flat-woven kilim. Crumbs and pet hair shake out easily, and chairs slide over the surface without catching. The weave is light enough to lift and move when you rearrange the room, and you can turn it over now and then.

The rug is 100% cotton, woven by hand on a loom in India. Cotton takes colour well, which suits a deep red, and like most cotton rugs the Azizi feels soft and matt underfoot. As with all handmade rugs, the size can vary slightly from the stated measurements.
