This cotton rug is woven by hand on a loom, so the pattern is formed by the warp and weft themselves. Because the weave is flat, it stays light and easy to move, which makes it a handy rug for the kitchen, where it can sit in front of the worktop and be shaken out when needed. It also works in a nursery, where the smooth surface leaves room for toy cars and floor puzzles. On a dark living room floor the yellow stands out well, so choose the size with the amount of colour you want in mind. The yellow Azizi shows how well cotton rugs take colour, and it also comes in beige, blue, brown, grey, green and orange. Pale floors suit it too.

Cotton is soft and matt, so a gentle vacuum and the odd shake are usually enough. Dab spills from the outside inwards, as our rug care tips show, then let the rug dry thoroughly. A non-slip pad, slightly smaller than the rug, keeps the light weave flat and the corners down.
