Description

Beige is the colour that goes with nearly everything, which is why the Nala sits so easily next to a grey sofa, a pale oak floor or dark wood. Plain and calm, it gives a room a quiet base without taking over.

A flat, plain beige Nala

This Nala is flat woven, so the surface stays even, and chair legs or a trolley wheel don't catch on loops. As a plain beige, it also works when you change cushions or curtains. The rectangular shape suits a sofa, a bed or a table. Laid in a lounge, the Nala makes a quiet living room rug, but it is just as happy under a dining table or in a kitchen with a bit of floor space. Runner, round and square versions of this beige exist too, and advice on rug sizes helps you match the shape to your room.

Beige Nala, handwoven from jute

Jute makes up the whole of the Nala, face and back alike. Jute comes from the stems of a plant grown mainly in India and Bangladesh, and the fibre has a golden-brown sheen and a firm, slightly rough feel underfoot, firmer than wool. Each rug is woven by hand on a loom, so small variations in the weave are part of it. Over underfloor heating, this one can stay put. Dry rooms suit it, so the bathroom is out. That natural look carries through all of our Jute Rugs.

Looking after the beige Nala

The basics of how to clean your rug are simple: vacuum with the brush switched off, blot spills at once with kitchen roll and skip the water. When it needs airing, hang it over a banister and give it a beat. A thin non-slip pad, cut a little smaller than the rug, keeps corners from curling. Steam stays out of it.
