Dark blue sits well next to pale oak, grey linen and a cream sofa, which is why the Deja in dark blue is easy to slot into a room you have already furnished. The pattern is quiet enough to share a space with cushions and curtains. Woven the way flatweave rugs are, it lies low.

Polypropylene and jute in the dark blue Deja

On the Deja in dark blue, the pile is 100% polypropylene, and the back is jute. This rug is woven on machines in Turkey, a jacquard process that gives crisp lines and an even pattern from edge to edge. Polypropylene is a synthetic fibre, so the dark blue copes with a terrace as well as a kitchen.

Kitchen, dining table, lounge

The rectangular shape suits a kitchen rug in front of the worktop as well as a dining room rug under the table, where chairs slide back over a flat surface. Laid in the living room, it stays out of the way of sofa legs and doors. If the sofa group is meant to look like one unit, set the rug so at least the front feet of the sofa and armchairs stand on it. Because the weave is flat and the rug is suitable for outdoor use, it also works on a terrace or balcony. Over underfloor heating, the Deja lies just as happily. Matching versions of this design come as a runner and a round rug, in cream as well as dark blue. For the right dimensions, finding the right fit only takes a few minutes with masking tape on the floor.

Looking after the dark blue Deja

Spills stay on the fibre for a short while, so you can blot a splash of coffee from the kitchen floor before it marks the Deja. A little soapy water deals with what is left, as our rug care advice explains. Under the sofa or the table, a non-slip pad slightly smaller than the rug keeps the corners from curling up. A brush-head vacuum is fine for the crumbs, as the weave is flat.
